Mugwort

Latin name: Artemisia vulgaris; aka wormwood, St. John's plant
Native to: Europe and parts of Asia and Africa
Benefits: Mugwort has been used in traditional systems of medicine in many different parts of the world. Mugwort is used today to promote digestive health and relieve digestive problems, anxiety, irregular menstruation, and high blood pressure. It has also been known to have sedative effects, laxative and liver tonic capabilities. Mugwort is great for a variety of reasons. Additional holistic benefits of mugwort consist of relieving stress, arthritic/joint pain, boosting energy, and improving sleep.
Mugwort should not be used during pregnancy because it may start menstruation and cause uterine contractions. Also not recommended for breastfeeding women.
